Summer in Wyoming 2024
A picture summary of our 2024 Summer Vacation.
A picture summary of our 2024 Summer Vacation.
We flew out to the Denver Airport where my family picked us up and started the drive back up to Douglass Wyoming. I swore after this trip that I'd never fly in an airplain airplane again, but I say that after pretty much every plane trip we take. 🤦🏽♀️

I'm not sure if we look happy or tired in this picture!
This particular time I believe we ended up eating bowls of Mac and cheese sitting on the floor because we couldn't find the ESO. And then, of course, when you fly with car seats they are always last to unload in baggage, so I corralled the kids in one area while Jacob watched for our things. And barefoot on the airport floor?? Yes I know, but there was no way I could keep up with everything at that point.
The drive back is long but I always look forward to stopping in Chugwater.

Chugwater Rest Area, Wyoming
I remember this was the first time Völund had felt real grass. Our yard in Texas was nothing but dirt and tangles of crunchy dead grass. When his bare feet touched the green he didn't know what to think and became distressed! Oh and this payphone is still functioning! They were scarce in my childhood and are all but extinct in Mai's and Völunds.

July 4th we lit off fireworks and danced with sparklers. Jubal tried some fiery ninja type moves. The girls were a little nervous but excited all the same.

Despite just a few minutes walk from down town, Zachary's house like it's in a secluded countryside. There are trees and shrubs growing along the property line and wildlife roams through freely. I woke up one morning and was walking bleary eyed over to Grammy's house for some hot coffee when I spotted this deer in the yard.

Zachary keeps busy with animals of his own too. Bees, chickens, guinea hens, rabbits, and we can't forget his large worm farm operation in the basement! With all the animals and the fruit trees and herbs he grows, Zachary makes the most out of his small town home.

Jubal was eager to show me around town and all the spots he and his friends hang out. We stopped by The Yard where he chatted with the hostess and ordered two cups of "the usual", a cherry soda.
I have an over abundance of caution as an adult. Teenage me would have had something to prove with that hil! Lol

Lennah turned three years old. Grammy and Aunt Savannah made a dirt cake complete with worms... Lennah loves her daddy's worm farm so we thought it would be a hit. The gummy worms were too realistic, though, and we were hard pressed to get the kids to eat it! 🤣

Tate Geological Museum at Casper College
The kids enjoyed looking at all the displays and especially the children's area. I bought an interactive dinosaur themed riddle book for Mai from the gift shop.

Garden Creek Waterfall
The Garden Creek Waterfall wasn't far from the museum. It was gorgeous!

When I reviewed these pictures later I noticed the beam of light streaming down on our family. I will keep this short and just say it felt like God had sent me a sign of affirmation in who I was. I will forever treasure these photos!

We always take a trip to Glendo Lake if we visit in the summer time. On this trip Savannah's boyfriend Johnathan joined us. It was our first time meeting him! In true Zachary fashion, my older brother started a sandy mudball fight. Everyone was in a full battle except Johnathan, who I noticed was holding a ball of mud at his side, unsure if he should join in the frey. I jokingly egged him on "I see you with that sand!" and launched my own missile at him. That was all it took and Johnathan was initiated.
Lennah and Mai just get each other! I love seeing them together.
